Celanese Renames AT Plastics Inc.
July 9th, 2009 by EditorCelanese Corp., a global chemical company, announced recently that it will rename its AT Plastics Inc. business Celanese EVA Performance Polymers Inc., in a move that company officials say is designed to capitalize on global brand awareness.
AT Plastics is an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin producer. Celanese officials say the new name highlights the company’s commitment to this segment, via its recent investment in the its Edmonton, Canada, facility and through its integration into the global Celanese brand.
The newly named Celanese EVA Performance Polymers business produces EVA copolymers under its Ateva® brand name and LDPE resins for flexible packaging, lamination products, hot melt adhesives, medical tubing and automotive parts, though officials report that emerging markets for EVA copolymers include pharmaceutical and medical products, the solar energy industry and agricultural applications.

The name change is expected to occur on Aug. 1, 2009.
