Pittsburgh-based U.S. Film Crew (USFC), recently donated time and materials to enhance the safety of a Greater Works Christian School in Monroeville, Pa., by installing more than 1,000 square feet of security film to the windows facing the courtyard.

According to a company announcement, USFC president and chief executive officer Glenn Yocca, who has had strong ties with the school and its church for many years, saw this project as a chance to give back to the community.

“Shattered glass can, of course, always pose a danger, but when it is not tempered its shards can be very large and extremely lethal, especially in a school environment,” says Yocca. “I hope that similar steps to protect school children will be implemented at all schools.”

School administrator Bill Spahr and senior pastor Gary Mitrik agree.

“Our moral obligation is the safety and well being of our students and faculty. With all of our schools surviving on a tight budget, the security film project wasn’t as feasible from a cost standpoint. But U.S. Film Crew looks for opportunities to share its success and expertise,” says Spahr. “The safety needs of these students and a chance for USFC’s CEO to give back made for a perfect opportunity. The potential for a serious injury due to broken glass has always been a serious concern of the school’s administration. USFC successfully addressed that concern for us.”
