3M and Eastman Named Most Ethical

March 26th, 2014 by Editor

3M and Eastman Chemical Co. have been named as two of “The World’s Most Ethical Companies” by Ethisphere.

3M was recognized in the industrial manufacturing segment and Eastman in the chemicals category. This is the first time in the eight years since the list was created that either company has been acknowledged.

According to a statement from Ethisphere, “The World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies designation recognizes companies that truly go beyond making statements about doing business ‘ethically’ and translate those words into action. WME honorees not only promote ethical business standards and practices internally, they exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today.”

Companies are scored based on their ethics and compliance program (25 percent); reputation, leadership and innovation (25 percent); governance (10 percent); corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent); and culture of ethics (20 percent). Anyone nominated completes a free online questionnaire providing information about the company that is then used to tabulate Ethics Quotient™ score based on the five factors previously mentioned.

For 2014, 144 companies from 41 industries were recognized, 21 of which are first-time honorees.
