Improve Your Company & Brand’s Google Exposure

I know, the headline sounds like a sales pitch, but hear me out. I am asked constantly about things like SEO and how someone can get their website on page one of a relevant Google search. Lately, I have been doing a tremendous amount of research for some Interwest clients and I have noticed a trend. Many companies are overlooking a terrific way to improve their search results and their company’s online profile that is absolutely free.

If it sounds too good to be true, trust me it’s not. Are you ready for this earth-shattering revelation?! Here it is:

You need to go Google My Business and create a Google+ business page for your company.

You might be thinking “Google+?! That is nowhere near as popular as Facebook and Twitter. Why would I waste my time with Google+?” Simply put, Google rewards businesses that use their platforms. A properly set up business page on Google+ that is active and complete can really boost your company’s website in search rankings and your company visibility across the web.

I do not have space in this blog to get into all the nuts and bolts of how this works, but here are three reasons to consider doing this today.

  1. Google+ company pages are indexed quickly by Google. A properly completed profile with descriptive keywords can begin ranking high for relevant searches. In some cases, a company’s Google+ page ranks higher than their actual website for relevant search terms because of the preference Google gives this platform.
  2. Google+ posts are individually indexed by Google. Unlike posts on other platforms, a Google+ post is indexed by Google and can begin ranking relatively high for associated search terms. This gives you another opportunity, each time you post, to have your company show up when someone is searching for related terms. Take time when creating posts to integrate related keywords in the text. You might be surprised that your posts begin ranking high on Google for searches relevant to those keywords.
  3. A complete Google+ business profile also puts all of the important information about your business in Google Search and Google Maps across all internet ready devices.

The best part is that setting up a business profile on Google+ is absolutely free and takes very little time. I have included a link below that will walk you through the process. Take the time to set up your profile completely. Remember, this is the initial impression that someone will have of your business, so make it a great one! Finally, post or share relevant content with integrated keywords at least once per week. Try this and I think you will be amazed at how often your company information begins being put in front of potential customers.

This way to better search results! http://www.google.com/business/

Thanks for the feedback. It is just one part of the overall strategy, but it is an important part.
