Window Film Pros Rally Around Tinter’s Deceased Niece

July 15th, 2015 by Casey Flores

When Randy Humphries’ niece Maxcena passed away, he took to Facebook simply to ask for prayers. What he got instead was a whole lot more.

“I don’t ask for many things from people but in this case I do I ask for prayers,” the Burlington, Mass.-based Tint Works owner posted. “My sister’s 2-month-old daughter passed away last night due to SIDs.”

A GoFundMe page with the goal of raising $2,500 was set up to help with burial costs.

Industry veteran George Nevarez saw the page and took to the Window Film Pros group on Facebook to ask for support.

“Ok all you window film pros out there. One of our brothers has had a family death,” he posted. “I will donate $100 and challenge everyone on this 3,500-member site to donate $100. Step up and do the same and help a brother out and his family in this time of need. Thanks so much!”

Within a matter of days and after donations from tinters nationwide, the money was raised.

Maxcena was laid to rest this past Monday.

“I wanted to thank everyone who helped my sister out in this time of need,” Humphries said on Facebook. “She is so thankful for what everyone has done and helped her with her faith in life. Perfect strangers that she has never met helping her to lay her daughter to rest. It was very emotional watching everyone who helped out do what they did. You guys are truly my family.”

  1. I was happy to participate in this cause. I think that is our responsibility to help others if/when we can as long as it doesn’t put our own families into undo hardship. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would feel like to lose a child. I am just glad that we as a community came together to help out this family to relieve some of the hardship they were experiencing. I am proud to say that I am part of an industry that can put aside opinions and differences to make a difference in Randy’s sisters life! Keep on slinging brothers and sisters!

  2. Man, heart warming. I can’t help but to be proud to be part of an industry at a level I am friends with such people. Together we stand.
