How We Can Tell the Window Film Industry is Growing

There are several ways to tell this industry is growing. The SEMA market report, Window Film magazine’s annual top dealer list (see the September/October issue) and (most likely) your own company’s sales all point to a larger market for window film products.

But perhaps there’s no greater gauge of how the industry’s doing than the International Window Film Conference and Tint-Off ™ (WFCT), the only international trade show dedicated exclusively to window film and paint protection film (PPF).

The show, held along with Auto Glass Week™, has grown consistently year after year by nearly every metric and is a sign-post of the industry’s annual expansion. This year’s no exception as it makes its way to the West Coast for the first time.

“We’ve received a tremendous amount of interest this year,” says Window Film magazine publisher Debra Levy. “More than ever, sponsors are excited to exhibit, competitors are eager to compete and attendees are anxiously awaiting the educational seminars, including Friday’s keynote with Jack Welch.”

Here are some statistics that speak to the industry’s growth.

The Tint-Offs

The big story here—and this seems to be a trend—is that the demand for PPF is skyrocketing. In just its second year, this division has doubled in size and now has two full preliminary heats as well as a finals.

Both the automotive and architectural division of the Tint-Offs are also at capacity.

The Attendees

Registration for WFCT is at its highest level ever—up nearly 10 percent from last year. Total event registration up 24 percent over last year, fanning the flame for the next metric.

The Sponsors

As attendance spikes, so do companies looking to get their business. More sponsors than ever are coming out to this year’s show. The total number of sponsors attending is up 21 percent year-over-year.
