Tint Shop Owners Arrested for Training Jewelry Thief

Buckhead Window Tinting is tucked back in this shopping center off a busy road.

Atlanta, Ga.-based Buckhead Window Tinting seemed just like any other tint shop—except it wasn’t. Located in a garage off a busy street, the seemingly retail business allegedly served as a training facility for a formerly-convicted jewelry store robber.

Owners Larry Gilmore, 43, and Michael Gilmore, 46, were charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by threats or violence.

According to a U.S. Attorney statement, the Gilmores allegedly conspired with former model Abigail Lee Kemp, and Lewis Jones III, to commit armed robberies of six jewelry stores across the Southeast.

A local report says the Gilmores trained Kemp how to rob stores—including how to zip-tie its employees—at their tint shop and would pay her in hundred-dollar bills after each heist.

The punishment for the alleged crime is a maximum of 20 years in prison.

A call to the shop went straight to voicemail, which said the mailbox is full.
