 IWFA Education Day

Hands-On Marketing Tools for Architectural Installations

Selling residential and commercial architectural window film solutions has become more complicated.  Determining what type of glass and coating is involved, the actual position and kind of coating on the glass, and the specifications of each coated glass layer all influence which films you should and can safely recommend for a job. The ability to do so may become one of your biggest competitive edges in a more crowded dealer market. Let one of the leaders in these tools show you how to use them efficiently and accurately. He’ll help you determine just what types of glass and window systems you might encounter.

Speaker: Mark Imbrock, EDTM.

9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Update on IWFA Industry Activities

From getting window film approved for use on large trucks to making sure that film use is considered in school and government renovation projects, there are many areas where the International Window Film Association is working on behalf of you and the industry.  Learn about the programs underway and ones that will be started in the coming year. Join many others in learning about these important steps and what they can mean for your local business efforts, both today and tomorrow.

Speaker: Darrell Smith, executive director, IWFA.

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Energy Efficiency and Green Movement Drivers

Lower energy costs or green building are used to justify the purchase of the other desired benefits.  This informative presentation is led by an energy efficiency expert who is personally involved in the building industry and environmental programs. He will explain why and how window film use fits into many of the current and coming programs from utilities, government initiatives, and now even home appraisal and residential mortgage industries.  Learn how schools can get 100% funding for film installed on their buildings and the new program that may make mortgages for homes with window film less expensive and easier to get.

Speaker: Mike Hodgson, ConSol.

11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m

Lunch and Presentation: New Trends in Auto Glass

The glass found in cars today presents installation concerns and opportunities quite different from the kinds of glass used just five years ago. Changes and developments in auto glass technology being introduced and planned for the future will impact the films and benefits to be marketed.  This seminar, presented during the luncheon co-sponsored by the IWFA with Window Film magazine for all registered WFCT attendees, will review the new types of glass and the new features of glazing systems recently introduced in the automotive sector.

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Contract Law and its Impact on Window Film Dealers    Window film dealers, just as many other small businesses, may be well aware of the legal requirements for operating a business. Certain simple steps can protect your business from being at a disadvantage in certain contractual or collection processes and increase the chance of being paid after completion of an installation. Proper contracts can also lower the likelihood of becoming involved in a warranty dispute. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn some tips to use to your benefit and reduce future problems from this legal professional!

Speaker: Sean Elliott, attorney, Haynes & Boone.
