Window Film Depot Donates Film for Veteran Homes

Window Film Depot, headquartered in Marietta, Ga., has partnered with the non-profit organization Building Homes for Heroes. The non-profit helps veterans who were injured while serving the U.S. by building or modifying homes and gifting them to the veterans and their families, mortgage-free. Window Film Depot has joined in this worthy cause by agreeing to facilitate, furnish and install window film products in 40 homes for veterans across the U.S. in 2017.

The company will be donating two of 3M’s window films for the project: solar control film and security window film. Providing and installing these films is valued at approximately $2,000 per home, or $80,000 total for the 40 homes they plan to outfit in the coming year.
Solar control films will be used to reduce intense sunlight and glare in the veterans’ homes. Many veterans suffer from PTSD, head trauma and other medical conditions that cause frequent headaches and increased light sensitivity. These window films will help to alleviate some of their discomfort.
Security window films will also be installed. Because of their experiences in the armed forces, many veterans have warranted concerns about safety. Installing security window film is a cost-effective way to give these veterans an extra layer of security in their homes that will help keep their families safe and bring them peace of mind.
“While I personally am not a veteran, Window Film Depot has staff members who have served, and we make it a point to recruit and hire former service men and women,” says Jeff Franson, president of Window Film Depot. “It is an honor to be able to participate in this project with Building Homes for Heroes. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our great nation.”

Since 2003, Window Film Depot has been a top dealer partner with
Energy Products Distribution (EPD), an exclusive distributor of 3M Window Films in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Eastern Midwest US. EPD is happy to see its 3M products going to a good cause. “We are inspired by the great work that our dealers do, and through this charitable partnership, Window Film Depot has once again proven themselves to be a leader in the window film industry,” said Jim Hondroulis, President of Energy Products Distribution.
