Diversify Your Options

Since founding The Window Film Company in 1998, I’ve continually looked for new ways and opportunities to grow the business, with one of the most successful methods of doing this proving to be a regular but carefully planned expansion of our product range. Our offering is now a diverse one, ranging from bomb-blast protection solutions to exclusive designer patterns.

Having introduced new products and services, we’ve subsequently had to invest in new equipment and training to ensure that we deliver the best possible service and solution, so it isn’t always a simple process, nor is it without risk. It’s therefore gratifying when we’re approached to carry out a project incorporating a variety of requirements.

The most recent example was an office fit-out in Suffolk in the East of England. The large open plan premises had a number of issues, and we were thrilled to be able to meet them all.

Solar gain: As a window film company, excess heat is one of the most common issues we face. The office in question benefitted from a number of large windows, but, as a result, was exposed to solar gain. We applied Madico’s Optivision 15 to alleviate the issue.

Privacy: The office is based on the ground floor and is located in a busy location in the city center, with plenty of pedestrian traffic passing by. To protect the confidential nature of the work being undertaken inside, a privacy solution was required. For this element we installed Contra Vision privacy film, allowing vision from the inside out, while blocking the view of passers-by.

Branding and graphics: The project also featured a substantial array of graphics. We printed a host of custom designs onto digital wallpaper for application to meeting rooms, as well as images of iconic sports stars, including Usain Bolt, that were applied throughout the open plan working area.

The break-out room was transformed into a tranquil, relaxing environment by applying a forest scene across three large walls, and glass partitions were treated with graphics printed onto optically clear film, delivering both brand elements and signage.

It was an extensive job that, when completed, looked fantastic—one that our installers were rightly very proud of completing. The real pride for me, however, came in the knowledge that my ongoing decision to grow our product range had allowed us to provide an excellent service for our client. In being able to complete a varied range of requirements, we made it easy for our customer, while also meaning extra valuable work for us.

We’re able to get these enlarged projects as a result of playing a long game: by being willing to invest in new products and technology and to commit to delivering and using them in the best possible way. It isn’t easy, it isn’t quick, and it takes time, effort and planning, but when jobs like these come along, it makes it all worthwhile.

Until next time… toodle-pip
