Defendant in XPEL Case Granted More Time

June 21st, 2017 by Katherine Coig

Guangzhou Suizhong Auto Accessories, one of the defendants in the case brought forth by XPEL for trademark infringement, has been granted more time to respond to the manufacturer’s complaint.

According to court records, the defendant’s answer was due on June 14. However, the foreign company requested an extension in order to find a “suitable” lawyer, preferably in the U.S. The new deadline is July 12.

In a letter to the court, the defendant claims there are several extenuating circumstances in China that have prevented them from responding to XPEL’s claims, including another case that has not allowed them to leave their country.

As for XPEL’s allegations against them, the company says in the letter, “We believe in this case, there must be a lot of misunderstandings and causes, so we want to work together to make sure of the real situation.”

No response by the other defendant, Carlas International Automobile Accessory Limited, has been filed.
