On Thursday, Oct. 5, from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., during the International Window Film Association’s (IWFA) sponsored educational day, WFCT attendees will get an update on The Art of Influencing Automotive Regulations.

In the past, with only one consultant, the executive director and a few involved members in a specific geographic area, it was very difficult for the IWFA to respond to all legislative situations immediately so best efforts were made to prioritize the issues.

Today, the IWFA has a new consultant and a new early warning and prioritization system it can use to respond more efficiently as well as in the proper priority ranking. In this seminar, you can learn what happens behind-the-scenes and how this new system can assist the window film industry in being more effective faster than in the past. Come see how new technology is being applied in your industry today and how it can be used for the future.

The instructor is D.B. Smit, IWFA state legislative consultant.

D.B. Smit has enjoyed a successful public service career in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He began in public budgeting, serving as budget analyst and budget manager for the City of Richmond and the State budget office. He then moved to government operations, serving as both the director of the State’s Department of General Services and the Commissioner of Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles. He has a lifetime of experience dealing with legislative, administrative and political issues at both the local and state levels.

Since leaving government service, Smit has consulted for public and private sector clients. In January of this year, he became the state legislative consultant for the IWFA.
