Mississippi Representative Introduces Bill to Amend the State’s Tint Law

January 10th, 2018 by Katherine Coig

Mississippi Rep. Charles Young has proposed an amendment to current legislation that would increase the state’s window tint inspection fee to $20. The fee would then be delegated to the shop performing the inspection and the state’s highway safety patrol troopers for training classes, as well as other related purposes.

“For conducting such tests, tint inspection stations shall charge and collect a fee of $20.00. $10.00 of the fee shall be retained by the inspection station, and $10.00 of the fee shall be remitted to the Department of Public Safety and may be expended, upon legislative appropriation, for the operational expenses of the department, except that $5.00 of the fee remitted to the department shall be expended exclusively to defray the expenses of conducting Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Trooper training classes,” the proposed amendment reads.

Tint inspections in the state cost $5.00, with $2.00 being retained by the inspection station, and the remaining $3.00 collected by the Department of Public Safety.

The bill would amend Section 1, Section 63-7-59, Mississippi Code of 1972 and was introduced to the House Committee of Transportation, as well as the House of Ways and Means.

  1. Hmmmmm this is right next door! I wonder if other states will do this.

  2. I just heard the news to day that in India window tinting has been banned. Now that’s some real bad news for inters in that country. There is also a very successful manufacturer in India who sells their products under the Global brand in the USA.

This company will be looking into other world markets for greater penetration to make up for the loos of the Indian market.

Well that’s life never take anything for granted ,you never know what is around the corner.
