WFCT Host Hotel Is Not the Usual La Quinta

April 11th, 2018 by Casey Flores

The International Window Film Conference and Tint-Off™ (WFCT) 2018 host hotel—La Quinta Inn and Suites Riverwalk—has a unique history and represents a special landmark for San Antonio, Texas. La Quinta was founded in Alamo City on the same exact spot half a century ago.

Fifty years and a couple of facelifts and expansions later, the original La Quinta is now gone; it’s been replaced by the new flagship location, which will serve as the host hotel for WFCT. This property is not the typical La Quinta. It has 14 stories, a beautiful pool, 350 rooms and more than 8,000 feet of meeting space, as well as an onsite lounge and bar, and even a ballroom. It is the chain’s flagship location.

It’s a marker on the Alamo City line and the continuation of a dream that two brothers had in 1968.

Be sure to secure your reservation before the room block fills up. WFCT will be held September 27-29, 2018 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

In 1968, when local real estate entrepreneurs Sam and Phil Barshop learned San Antonio was set to host the World’s Fair, they hatched a plan with a piece of property they owned just across the street from the fair. Sam Barshop knew tourists would come by the busloads, ensuring his new property would be a success. He designed the property with a strong Spanish theme and gave it a catchy name, La Quinta. And thus a hotel chain was born.

Today there are more than 900 La Quintas and the brand continues to grow, but it all began in San Antonio on Commerce Street.

The La Quinta Inn and Suites Riverwalk is offering a discounted room rate of $159 USD per night, plus tax. To book your room, call 866/527-1498, option 1, and ask for the International Window Film Conference and Tint-Off™ room block or give code GRKQV.

This rate will be available through September 4, 2018. Rooms are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

WFCT is the only event in the world that puts the emphasis on automotive, architectural, paint protection, security and decorative films as well as wraps.

As an attendee, plan to enjoy the International Window Film Tint-Offs™, the first-ever Window Film Customer Service Representative (CSR) Finals, a variety of demonstrations and educational programming.
