IWFA Webinar Provides Tips For Your Business

Many in the window film businesses believe you should know about glass first, in order to better service your customers. The International Window Film Association (IWFA) hosted a webinar last month that focused on the flat glass pipeline and gave insight on things those in the business should know.

One of the first things introduced during the webinar was taking advantage of modern advertising by using mobile apps. One particular app allows companies to send post cards to gauge customer interest in certain areas. Scott McCutcheon, Emerald Coast Window Film Inc. owner, said it’s an easy way to advertise to customers for low cost.

“Each post card is 69 cents each and it includes postage. The great thing about it is that it allows you to do an overview of an entire neighborhood in no time, compared to physically visiting each area,” McCutcheon said.

A notable point of the app is that the user can advertise their business with just a few clicks and swipes on their mobile device of choice. “The old way was post cards with physical stamps, whereas this is all animated,” McCutcheon said.

Another topic discussed in the webinar was glass education. Nathan George, Film Solutions LLC chief executive officer, made several comments about how important it is to educate the consumers on their glass to ensure they are getting the best film for it.

“You have to have a quality and standard. It’s important for your installers to be fully educated on your films so they can communicate better with your customers if they have questions during their install,” George said.

Tool advancement were another main point. Some in the industry think technology helps make working in window film easier. “The technology that’s coming out now is outstanding and there are so many tools available that help guide you to put on the correct film for a specific project,” McCutcheon said.
