New Bill Proposed in New York

August 21st, 2019 by Emmariah Holcomb

New York has a new piece of legislation that could alter the legal window tint allowance on vehicles within the state. The New York legislature will consider making changes to its current vehicle and traffic law during this years’ session.

The new bill, also referred to as A8484, was introduced in the Assembly earlier this month. According to the bill, it looks to change the light transmittance from less than 70% to less than 50%.

The following text would be added to the current law if the new bill passes.

“Such measurements made by the commissioner, or his designee, shall be given a tolerance of plus or minus seven percent,” a portion of the bill reads.

The bill was introduced and read in the Assembly before being referred to the Committee on Transportation for review.
