The New Guy—Preparing for WFCT

Welcome back to The New Guy, a weekly blog where I—recently-hired assistant editor and newcomer to the window film industry—share my experiences, lightbulb moments and personal opinions. This week, I want to speak about my upcoming coverage at the International Window Film Conference and Tint-Off™ (WFCT), the leading event for the window, security, decorative and paint protection film industries.

As I near the end of my sixth week at WINDOW FILM Magazine, I’m preparing for what should be an incredible week at WFCT. Here’s what I’m looking forward to most:

• The seminars have me intrigued. I’ve learned a lot from my first six weeks on the job, but you can never learn enough, especially in an industry as rich as this one. Not only am I looking forward to covering the sharpest minds of the industry—I’m also looking forward to learning from them.

• The competitions will be a chance for me to see the tricks of the trade, up close and personal. I’ve been around window film and am aware of its benefits, but have yet to see full residential and auto installations in the flesh. I can’t wait to scan the process, from start to finish.

• The people are what drive this industry. From Art Ceballos to Les Helton, I’ve had the pleasure of conversing with and learning from several industry professionals. I look forward to traversing the floors of WFCT and interacting with even more come June 7-9 in Orlando. I hope to see you there!

Though pre-registration to attend the event in Orlando is closed online, you can still register onsite at the Orange County Convention Center in Hall WE1 beginning Monday, June 7, at 6:00 a.m. If you would like to attend the event online from home, you can still register here.
