Stronger Than You Know
By Emmariah Holcomb
There are several life experiences that can change a person. It could be earning your first paycheck, wrapping your first exotic car, or even something painful like saying your final goodbyes to a family member. Whatever the event, it changes your mindset and helps you to move forward.
When I think about the window film industry I often wonder what events helped motivate the men and women who help make it a reality. They use films under 10 millimeters thick everyday in their careers, and continue going forward. All of the industry installers I’ve met work tirelessly to make even the toughest angles to wrap look seamless when it’s finally revealed to their customer.
After spending more than 59 weeks in an industry that has more discoveries than Sherlock Holmes, I find myself, pushing forward, learning more, and becoming stronger than I thought I was.
It’s crazy to think that, in this short time, I’ve gone from not knowing the difference between solar and safety films, to being able to speak with confidence about film and even recommend services. Yet I know that if you’ve celebrated decades in the industry, you’ve probably lost sight of how impressive window film is at times. It takes a unique person to work in this industry and to counter the objections to it from the very people who are buying your services.
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been told by shop owners and installers that customer education is still an issue. Some businesses have even changed their tactics to include more time during consultations to ensure the customer understands and is comfortable with their services.
Yet with every challenge that comes your way, manufacturers, distributors, companies, and installers persevere. That very persistence is the heartbeat of this industry. The very thing that helps newbies like me continue staying motivated to help this industry grow.
