How to Make Your Blog Give You an SEO Boost

I often get asked what content should be added to a website to help with search engine optimization (SEO). While there are many ways to improve the SEO of a website, a blog can be one of the most impactful. A blog is often longer-form, and that allows many options to create SEO-friendly content. This article covers the three most important things to focus on when creating blog content that can give your website a real SEO boost.

Blogging is a systematic process.

1. Write About Reader’s Pain Points—Consider articles focused on particular issues your prospect might be dealing with when thinking of what to write about. Before you jump into talking about the features of your products, think of problems or dilemmas that a client might be searching for solutions that your product may be the answer for.

Often when a prospect is searching, they will ask a question such as, “How do I prevent hardwood floors from fading?” If you create a piece of content on your site focused on the subject of preventing the fading of hardwood floors, you stand a good chance of coming up for a search like this, getting your listing clicked on and the possible lead that comes with it.

2. Use Images On The Blog That Are Optimized—You want to choose pictures that will align with the blog and catch people’s attention. People are visual by nature and tend to notice pictures before they begin reading text. Once you choose the perfect image/images, optimize them properly. This can be done with photo titles, alt tags and a geo tag if applicable. Often the first thing on the page, after the title, is the featured image. Having this content optimized properly can really boost the SEO for the page.

3. Take Advantage Of All SEO Opportunities For Each Blog—Once you have written about a relevant topic and chosen the perfect image, you need to optimize the blog. This is done by making sure the desired search term/phrase is present in the blog title, url, meta description, tags, categories, adding inbound and outbound links, etc. Depending on the platform of your website, there are tools to check all the SEO boxes. Pay attention to this as it is what will pay dividends when it comes to search engine results.

I hope that this article gives you a guide on creating blog content for your website that can boost SEO. If you take the time to add content to your website, make certain that you get the biggest impact possible. Consistent content creation, properly optimized, will have a significant impact on your organic search results over time. Happy Blogging!
