What’s Your Pain Point?

This week’s lead story covers employee retention, but companies are also grappling with a labor shortage, reduced spending power, a stagnant supply chain and potential COVID-19 variants. What is your shop fighting most in these uncertain times?

Kyle Fuller’s tint shop is currently grappling with employee retention.

“The way the market is going, we’re trying to figure out whether or not we’re going to keep the smoothie side of it open,” says Kyle Fuller, owner of The Bar in Warner Robins, Ga. “We own a gym and the gym’s fine. The cost of orange juice just went from $1.80 something to $3.60 something a jug. Groceries keep rising. Our margins on selling things are going down and down.”

The Bar is a side gig for Fuller, who operates Tint Pro in Warner Robins, Ga. Inflation is presenting challenges on that front as well. “Everybody’s looking for more money right now because that’s the conversation in the news. ‘If you were worth $7 yesterday, you’re worth $15 today.’”

Business ownership is an undertaking I admire from afar. As if installing tint, PPF and vinyl wasn’t enough of a task, companies are still dealing with COVID-19’s ripple effect. I entered the industry in April 2021, a crucial time for coverage that helps businesses. I hope to entertain, educate or inform—preferably two of the three—in each article I pen.

Whether you’re generating leads, tinting tractors or surviving the slow season, I hope to provide value you can carry from the screen to the shop. Please vote in the poll below to indicate your most daunting trial currently. I will share results next week and aim to cover these topics in the future.
