A Home Run Window Tint Ad

It was the week before Valentine’s Day when I was served up an ad on Instagram.

“How dark is your love?” the nine-second ad asked with a picture of a car in a familiar tinting bay. It was made up by a tint shop local to me in Richmond–a Mechanicsville, Virginia-based Solar Eclipse Window Tinting owned by Paul Phinney. The ad came up as I was toggling through friends’ stories and gave me the option to swipe up and book an appointment with him.

It was fantastic, so I gave him a call to ask if we could share it.

“I don’t know that I’m necessarily doing anything right,” he says when I ask him about it.

In my view, the brevity, script, theme and geographic targeting were all on point—so I wanted to share it with our audience to inspire, spark conversation and encourage you all to send me your ads to see how the industry is getting the word out at cflores@glass.com.
